Whats In The Photo:Landsat satellite image from 2001, showing the Jonah natural gas field. Graded well pads and connecting access roads are clearly visible. Each pad covers an area of 3-4 acres. Open pits of waste drilling fluids appear as blue spots on many of the pads. Area shown is about 7 miles across. By early 2003, nearly 500 well pads have been installed. BLM is currently (summer 2003) considering an industry request to add at least 800 new pads to the field.
